《red light》精彩章节

Unfortunately, right when she stepped in, she heard a familiar voice from behind her.

"Momma!" cried a child's voice.

Mary turned around and smiled widely at her youngest daughter, Hannah. The girl ran up to her momma and threw herself into her arms. Mary laughed as the baby girl buried her face into the crook of her neck.

"Hello there, baby," Mary chuckled, pressing a kiss onto the side of her daughter's head. "How are you doing?"

"Good," Hannah replied, grinning up at her mother. "Bobby said we could go to the park today! With Dean!"

"Oh?" Mary asked. "Did you ask him?"

Hannah nodded enthusiastically.

"Yup!" she replied. "Daddy told him it's 'cause Mommy is gonna be gone and I can spend time with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Charlie."

"Well that sounds like fun," said Mary. "I bet they'd love to play some games with you."

A sudden banging noise came from above them. Hannah's head snapped up in confusion.

"What's that?" she inquired.

Mary raised a curious eyebrow as she followed her daughter's gaze upward. The source of the disturbance, however, was not visible.

"Probably nothing," Mary responded hesitantly. She picked up Hannah once more and began walking toward the stairs.

"Okay," said Hannah.

"Alright, honey. Come down whenever you're ready," Mary called out. "We're having breakfast soon anyway."

As Hannah climbed down the stairs, Mary continued up, holding her sleeping child closely. She took the steps two at a time until she reached their bedroom. The sight that met her was quite surprising. Dean was standing beside her bed with an anxious expression on his face. His hair was disheveled and his shirt was slightly creased and wrinkled. His eyes were wide, and she noticed that there was dark smudges under them. Clearly he had been crying.

"Dean?" she questioned, her eyebrows drawn together with worry.

He didn't reply. He merely averted his gaze, looking away from Mary for some reason.

"Dean, did something happen?" she asked, taking a step forward and laying a gentle hand on his shoulder.

He inhaled deeply, visibly trying hard to control his emotions.

"Dean, please talk to me," she urged gently.

Dean hesitated for a few moments longer before finally meeting his mother's eyes.

"Cas is gone," he declared hoarsely.

Mary was completely taken aback by this statement.

"What do you mean?" she queried. "When?"

Dean's gaze drifted downward, but Mary caught it before he could turn it away again. She grasped her son' s chin and forced him to look at her.

"Just tell me," she insisted.

Dean swallowed thickly before nodding hesitantly.

"Last night," he answered. "Right before he went home."

The look of shock on Mary's face was evident. She released Dean's chin as a single tear escaped her eye.

"Oh, Dean…" she murmured.

Dean felt his throat tighten as he stared at his mother's face.

"That means he'll probably leave us eventually," he continued. "I guess we should've known that he wouldn't want us anymore."

"Dean," Mary muttered angrily. "This isn't true. Castiel cares about you and loves you very much."

Dean didn't respond. Instead, he simply shrugged.

"So why would he leave?" asked Mary.

"He couldn't handle it being with me anymore," Dean explained. "I made him really unhappy. It would only be fair if he wanted to be free from me too."

Mary pursed her lips together.

"Why would you say such horrible things?" she exclaimed.

"What else could I say?" Dean asked.

Mary shook her head in frustration. She knew exactly what he meant.

"Because of everything I've done, Dean," she said softly. "All these years that I've kept you and your sister hidden, not wanting anyone to find you because I feared that someone might be able to get you out. Well it seems like it wasn't enough, because now Cas has lost both of his sons. That must be so incredibly painful for him."

Dean looked away, unable to meet his mother's eyes. He felt guilty and guilty and guilty.

"Maybe it won't matter," he muttered. "After all, we've already lost both of our dads, right? Maybe that' s why he's decided to go."

Mary shook her head vehemently.

"No, Dean," she insisted. "Castiel still loves you very much. He wouldn't just up and leave like that."

Suddenly, the bedroom door burst open, revealing Hannah who was carrying a huge smile on her face.

"Hi Momma, hi Daddy," she grinned happily.

Mary smiled back at her as she carefully set Hannah down.

"Hi, Honey," she greeted.
